Getting DVDs the long way round.

I love Amazon.com
I've been looking for Long Way Round on DVD - the Ewan McGregor / Charlie Boorman trek around the world on their BMW motorbikes. The US version has 2 discs and the 7 broadcast episodes. I looked on the US Amazon site and one of the comments was that the UK now had a 3-disc 10-episode version. So I read on and someone else commented that they'd ordered theirs from Amazon in Canada and got this edition instead of the 7-episode version. More checking - the UK one is (naturally) region 2, PAL. The US version is region 1, NTSC with 7 episodes. The Canadian version is region 1, NTSC with 10 episodes. And because Amazon share their user database across all their sites, I was able to log into Amazon.ca and order the NTSC version of the extended box set and have it shipped to America, all without needing to fill out any new forms. Nice.
It cost more in shipping, obviously, and I'll have to wait a bit longer, but so what? :-)
Oh and if you're into the whole Charlie Boorman thing, he's doing the Dakar Rally this year. You can track is progress on their official site here. He's 172nd in the bikes today on the third day. Not bad for a first-timer.
